RESTYLANE
Creating beauty using material naturally found in the body
RESTYLANE creates beauty with a gel based
on a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. It gives
natural volume in your skin to lift and produce new firmness,
resulting in a healthy, youthful appearance.
Natural material
Hyaluronic acid is identical in all living organisms and
occurs naturally in the body, creating volume in the skin,
giving the eyes their shape and lubricating joints. The
Non-Animal, Stabilised, Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) in RESTYLANE
smoothes wrinkles and folds and gives volume to your lips
or contours to your face. In contrast to some other hyaluronic
acid products, the hyaluronic acid in RESTYLANE is not extracted
from animals. This means that there is no risk of transmitting
disease or eliciting allergic reactions if you are sensitive
to common foods, such as chicken and eggs.
Stabilised for long duration
After injection into the skin, RESTYLANE generally remains
for 6-12 months when injected into the skin. Due to a very
effective stabilisation method, the volume remains intact
for a long period of time. By comparison, non-stabilised
hyaluronic acid products are degraded within days to weeks
of the injection. As the injected stabilised hyaluronic
acid in RESTYLANE breaks down, water takes its place. The
less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it is
able to bind. This is one of the main reasons why RESTYLANE
lasts so long.
Naturally integrated
The hyaluronic acid in RESTYLANE is naturally integrated
into the tissue and allows for the passage of vital nutritive
substances like oxygen and hormones. As cells are also able
to pass between fragments of the gel your skin will look
perfectly healthy and natural
Biodegradable
The hyaluronic acid in RESTYLANE is biodegradable, which
means that, when the injected gel breaks down, it turns
into water and carbon dioxide and disappears unnoticed from
your body.
Advantages
In charge of your looks
As your face is constantly changing, beauty is best maintained
by evaluating the need for further treatment from time to
time. With RESTYLANE, you are always in charge of your looks.
With RESTYLANE, you always have the option of continuing
or changing the combination of treatments. The treatment
can be repeated as often as you like.
Long-lasting, but not permanent
One of the great advantages of RESTYLANE is that it is long-lasting,
but not permanent. Unlike permanent treatments or implants,
RESTYLANE always leaves you with the option of re-evaluating
your needs when the initial effect has worn off. With RESTYLANE,
you will always have the option of continuing or changing
the combination of treatments. A follow-up can be performed
at any time you like after the previous treatment.
Non-animal
As RESTYLANE is a totally non-animal product, there is no
risk of eliciting allergic reactions if you are sensitive
to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs. Unlike
some other injectable products for wrinkle treatment and
lip enhancement (for example collagen made from cow hide
and hyaluronic acid made from rooster combs), RESTYLANE
is a totally non-animal product. This means that there is
no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reactions
if you are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken
and eggs.
Unique product
RESTYLANE is the only injectable agent containing NASHA,
Non-Animal, Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid. When RESTYLANE breaks
down, water takes its place. When totally absorbed, RESTYLANE
turns into water and carbon dioxide and disappears without
leaving any trace in your body.
SAFETY
Gentle and safe
RESTYLANE is a safe product, made of hyaluronic acid, which
is naturally present in the body. RESTYLANE was the first
CE and FDA approved, non-animal, stabilised, injectable
hyaluronic acid for aesthetic use. As it is free from animal
substances, the risk of transmitting diseases from other
species is completely eliminated. To date, more than 4 million
treatments have successfully been carried out with RESTYLANE
in more than 70 countries worldwide.
Natural beauty
Made in Sweden. RESTYLANE is made in Sweden, a nation known
for health, nature, beauty and high-quality products. After
decades of extensive research, Dr. Bengt Ågerup and the
company Q-Med in Uppsala, Sweden, succeeded in developing
a method of manufacturing non-animal, stabilised, hyaluronic
acid in the form of a gel, called NASHA. The first application,
RESTYLANE, was launched in 1996.
Patented production process
RESTYLANE is produced under carefully controlled conditions
in a patented process, exclusively developed by Q-Med AB.
All RESTYLANE products carry a CE-mark, which means that
they comply with the requirements specified in the EU and
are thereby approved for sale within the EU. The production
process of RESTYLANE also complies with the internationally-recognised
ISO 13485:2000 standards and local requirements for the
markets where RESTYLANE is registered.
Satisfied users
RESTYLANE has a long record of success with many satisfied
users. Since 1996, more than 4 million treatments have been
successfully carried out all over the world.
Side effects
After the treatment some common injection-related reactions
may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration
and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve
spontaneously within a few days after injection into the
skin and within a week after the injection into the lips.
Other types of reactions are very rare, but about 1 in 2000
treated patients have experienced localised reactions thought
to be of a hypersensitive nature. These have usually consisted
of swelling at the injection site, sometimes affecting the
surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and in rare cases,
acne-like formations have also been reported. These reactions
have either started a few days after the injection or after
a delay of two to four weeks, and have generally been described
as mild to moderate and self-limiting with an average duration
of two weeks. This text does not contain all the information
